Anaconda (1997)

Sent on a National Geographic survey of the jungle to capture the largest anaconda, a group of cardboard cutouts posing as actors bite off more than they can chew and get chewed up by an over sized and very agitated snake. That sums up the film. What looks like it may be a turkey is saved by a CGI snake upstaging all the actors and devouring them. Unfortunately J-Lo survives since she would be too glamorous to be devoured and she would have made the snake look tame by comparison by throwing a hissy fit if she was to be eaten. The perfect Saturday night film showing that not all films need to aspire to Citizen Kane and fun for the sake of it is an art form in itself.

Marty, (Josh Hamilton) a college student in New York, decides to pay his family a visit in their ancient and imposing house in D.C. He makes two mistakes, one is bringing his fiance, Lesly (Tori Spelling) with him, and the other is coming at all. As soon as he gets home things begin to go wrong, and although the mother, Mrs. Pascal (Geneviève Bujold) hides the kitchen knives, she isn’t able to prevent disaster. It soon becomes clear that Marty and his sister, the unbalanced Jackie-O (Parker Posey) are just a little too affectionate towards each other, and everything untoward that could happen, does, in this unusual comedy about a house where the word “no” is never heard.

It is a film which has been in the news for its sensitive handling of an adult theme. Basu Bhattacharya has directed the film with an off-beat script very well. Not a very convincing subject for the masses.

Om Puri and Rekha are a normal, middle-class couple and have mutual faith in each other. All is placid till Rekha bumps into a procuress at a social gathering. The procuress diverts the simpleton’s mind and draws her into a hep prostitution ring. On one hand Rekha enjoys the fact that she is able to lure the men into her charms and make a fast buck. On the other, she feels guilty of cheating her husband. But after learning his wife’s indiscretions, the husband discuss it with his wife and both of them decides to start life afresh.

Trevor Garfield is a teacher in a New York City high school. After a student almost kills him in the hallway Garrfield relocates to Los Angeles, but the trouble starts again when he becomes a substitute to a class containing a tag crew by the name of K.O.S. Their murderous leader, Benny, tells Garfield that there will be no mutual respect between them. The tension mounts when a fellow teacher, Ellen Henry, confides that Benny has threatened her life. After Benny murders a rival tagger in cold blood and goes AWOL, Benny’s tag partner, Cesar, takes over as class antagonist. Garfield is forced to play by the rules of the street in a pyrrhic contest between victim and victimizer.

Mortal Kombat is an ancient tournament where the Earth Realm warriors battle against the forces of Outworld. Liu Kang and a few chosen fighters fought and defeated the powerful sorcerer Shang Tsung, their victory would preserve the peace on Earth for one more generation. Taking place now where the first movie left off, the Earth realm warriors live a short period of peace when evil forces from another dimension come to invade and wreak havoc on Earth. They are guided by the forces of Outworld leader, Shao Kahn and his generals such as: Motaro, Rain, Ermac, Sheeva and Sindel. Now Liu Kang, Raiden, Jax, Sonya and Kitana must defeat Shao Kahn in six days before the Earth realm merges with the Outworld.

Mrs.Malhotra gives birth to twins, who get separated due to some unforseen and unfortunate circumstances. Shocked and traumatised Mrs. Malhotra is confined to a wheelchair. Quiet and mature Prem, one of the twins, and his dad return to India together with Mrs. Malhotra to get Prem married to outgoing and percocious Mala, daughter of Sharma. Here Prem meets with his twin brother Raja, a very outgoing youngster. Raja loves the quiet and mature Roopa, and both the girls are confused by the change they perceive in their respective lovers. They often end up with each other?s man.

But the board instead decides to send Mr. Bean to Los Angeles, where David Langley, curator of a museum in downtown L.A. has requested that the board of director’s of the British national gallery sends a art scholar to talk about their latest purchase, the famous painting “Whristler’s Mother” which military officer General Newton has donated to the museum, at a opening conference. But Mr. Bean’s arrival in Los Angeles causes mayhem, as David invites Mr. Bean to stay with his family and begins causing problems for David’s marriage. But Mr. Bean doesn’t know anything about paintings and although they think he is a brilliant, eccentric art scholar, he really isn’t the right man to protect the painting as his behavior also threatens the painting itself.

The film starts out when 5 people walk into an elevator, but something goes very wrong. The elevator collapses 11 floors and the five people roam around the hotel as ghosts. 60 years later, reporter Buzzy (Steve Guttenberg) and his niece Anna (Kirsten Dunst) are trying to find out the mystery of the hotel. An old lady named Abigail tells them that if they find a belonging of each person on the elevator they will be free from the hotel.
